TRENDnet’s Wireless N-Draft Firewall Router Receives Top Score from bit-tech.net
bit-tech.net (3/5/2007)

“TRENDnet’s TEW-631BRP proved itself to be the strongest gaming router we had on test.”

bit-tech.net, the leading independent hardware review and PC modification sites in the U.K., featured a review of TRENDnet’s TEW-631BRP 300Mbps Wireless N-Draft Firewall Router on March 5, 2007.

Editor Josh Blodwell pulled together a small group test of routers which consist of two cable connections (with no built-in modem) and two ADSL connections.  All four support Quality of Service (QoS) and have wireless that goes beyond the basic 802.11g specification that is now standard.  To test out the gaming performance, Blodwell played Battlefield 2 on a 64-player server.

Blodwell found that TRENDnet’s TEW-631BRP offered the best all-round performance of the four QoS routers tested.  “Of course great gaming performance isn’t so great if gained at the expense of other applications, such as web browsers or less well known games. Fortunately for everyone, the TEW-631BRP performed admirably in this respect,” commented Blodwell.

TRENDnet’s TEW-631BRP also provided the fastest close range transfer by wireless.  It took a mere 3 minutes and 22 seconds to transfer 750MB AVI file from within 10m of the base station.

In conclusion, “TRENDnet proved itself to be the strongest gaming router we had on test.Although it had the same teething problems as we found with Zyxel, it had much better automatic priority for gaming out of the box,” stated Blodwell.TRENDnet’s Pre-N specifications were also considerably faster than Zyxel’s 802.11g MIMO specifications.
